How we make content
What we do before, during and after.
You should know where your study material comes from. Here are the steps we follow for every lesson and practice question.
Before
Before we write
1. Pick one real problem
Each lesson starts with one thing learners get stuck on, such as flipping the sign in an inequality.
2. Start from the published targets
We read the published GED® assessment targets for that subject, so the lesson practices a skill the test describes.
3. Read the sources ourselves
We read official and public education pages directly and write down who published each one and the date we checked it.
4. Check the rights
Free to read is not free to copy. We link to other people's material instead of copying it.
5. Avoid repeats
We check our library first so we do not publish the same lesson twice.
During
While we write
1. Our own words
Lessons, examples, pictures and practice questions are written by FinishHigh. They are not official test questions and are not copied from other courses.
2. Worked answers
Every practice question comes with the answer and the reasoning, step by step.
3. Check the answers
We work each answer out and check the answer key against the question. For new math lessons we also test the answers with a quick computer check.
4. Plain and readable
We use short sentences, explain new words, and make sure pages work on a phone. Pictures get text descriptions.
5. No hype
No fake reviews, made-up numbers, pass rates or guarantees. We do not claim approval from anyone who has not given it.
After
After a lesson goes up
1. Automatic checks
Before a change goes live, automatic tests check that each lesson page loads with its answers and sources in place.
2. Dates you can see
Each lesson shows when it was published and updated, and each source shows the date we last checked it.
3. Honest dates
If a source page is down when we recheck it, we keep the old date instead of pretending we checked it.
4. Educator review
We are working toward review by qualified adult educators. We will not say a lesson has been reviewed until it has.
5. Fixes from you
Spot a mistake? Email hello@finishhigh.com with the page and the question. We correct real mistakes and update the date.
Where this comes from
Every lesson shows its sources.
At the end of each lesson you will find the sources it is based on, who published them and the date we checked them. New lessons also include a short “Where this comes from” note that names the part of the published GED® Assessment Targets the lesson practices. We are adding that note to older lessons as we update them.
What a note looks like
“This lesson practices the math assessment target for solving and graphing one-variable inequalities, as described in the published guide for educators. We checked the guide on the date shown.”
The sources guide what we teach. The words, examples and questions are our own. Browse the free study library to see it in action.
