Find free classes and make a school-aid checklist

Find legitimate study help and check aid without paying for public information.

Try free study help first

CareerOneStop's Adult Basic Education page points to local classes and American Job Centers. Ask about schedules, tutoring, admission rules, accessibility, and costs.

Ask your library about LearningExpress and GED® test books. Access varies. Job Corps may help eligible young people; confirm current eligibility and services directly.

Treat aid searches as a shortlist

The FAFSA is free on the official Federal Student Aid website. Choose the attendance year and check school and state deadlines. A GED® credential alone does not guarantee admission or funding.

CareerOneStop lists awards from many sponsors, not only government awards. Visit each sponsor and record eligibility, deadline, documents, and obligations.

Keep applications on official sites

Use this checklist to plan. Do not enter identity numbers, tax records, banking details, or application documents into FinishHigh.

Ask your school's aid office: Is this program eligible for aid? Which awards fit my situation? What costs remain after aid?

ORIGINAL PRACTICE

Your turn.

Try each question before opening the explanation. These are FinishHigh practice examples, not GED® test questions.

  1. A website asks for a fee to submit the official FAFSA. What should you do?

    Show the answer and why

Use the official Federal Student Aid site. The FAFSA itself is free.

  2. Does a scholarship directory listing mean an award is government funded?

    Show the answer and why

No. Check the actual sponsor and rules.

  3. What should you verify before applying?

    Show the answer and why

Your eligibility, the current deadline, required documents, and the sponsor's official application route. Check award obligations too.

Trusted sources and further study

Sources guide the topics and factual information. The lesson wording, examples, and questions are original FinishHigh material.

Independent practice, not the GED® test or a pass guarantee. Aid and admission depend on the provider’s rules.
